No one knows for sure the causes of bipolar disorder, and it hasn't even been 100% proven that bipolar disorder is genetic, but scientists have still found significant clues to the genetic causes (for example, it has been found that if both parents have bipolar disorder, each of their children have about a 30%-40% chance of also having it; it has also been found that if a twin has bipolar disorder, the other twin has a 40%-70% of also having bipolar disorder). Still, scientists have not found specific genes that are linked to this disorder.
